We cannot wait until tomorrow to solve the problems of today.  During my service to the town of Guilford, I have worked and succeeded in promoting long-term fiscal planning that strengthens our schools and services and maintains the quality of life and affordability we all value. 

Unfortunately, our state is in trouble.  Despite the biggest tax increase in Connecticut’s history last year, the state ended the year with over a 200 million dollar deficit this year and over a 300 million dollar deficit next year.  Taxpayers face the third-highest burden in the nation.  Our unemployment rate has climbed back up to 8.5% percent.   

The undeniable truth is that we can no longer afford the amount of government we have today, it is simply not sustainable. Raising taxes again and again, especially as families and the economy are struggling to get back on their feet will only guarantee a slower recovery and more individual hardship. Most families in this economy have had to make the important choices between what they want and what they can reasonably afford. It is time the government does the same thing.

We cannot continue to ignore the problems in Hartford that threaten families and businesses here in the 12^th District.  It is time for new ideas and real leadership in our State Legislature.

My experience as a small business owner, practicing attorney, concerned parent and active community volunteer have helped me to work collaboratively to serve the residents of Guilford and solve problems.  I will employ those skills to serve you in our State Legislature. 

I will solve the problems that face our communities through innovation, collaboration and partnership between all towns – not enacting more laws placing requirements to comply without resources needed to do so.  I pledge to bring government back to you, the people, with less money going up to Hartford and more money staying in your pockets to spend on your families and within your towns.  I will work to reduce the cost to run the state, create greater efficiencies and continue to provide and enhance needed services in our communities.

We can do better and with the right leadership, we will!!
